207-Unclaimed Property: Understanding Your Responsibilities
Sarbanes Oxley has brought unclaimed property to the forefront for many organizations as risk reduction is paramount. This session will provide an advanced course on unclaimed property focusing on compliance and best practices to reduce liabilities. The session will provide suggestions to identify potential exemptions and fine tune their due diligence letters for increased compliance. Recent legislative changes will be highlighted and you will learn how your organization can prepare for an audit.

Anne Furdon, Sun Life Financial
Ms. Furdon is the Unclaimed Property Administrator for Sun Life Financial. She has been with Sun Life for 22 years. Ms. Furdon is responsible for the oversight of the due diligence efforts of multiple business units. These business units span across 9 companies. She also manages the stale check inventory totaling approximately 8 million dollars. Ms. Furdon is responsible for producing the state filings for all 50 states for 9 Sun Life companies which calculates to over 500 filings per year.


Deborah K. Beauchamp, StoneRiver, Inc.

Deborah K. Beauchamp is the Vice President of Compliance Solutions at StoneRiver, Inc. and is based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Deborah has more than twelve years experience in the unclaimed property field and blends that with other compliance experience and a technical background gained from seven years at Novell and WordPerfect.  She directs compliance operations for StoneRiver Unclaimed Property Solutions which is used by more than 4,000 companies to report their unclaimed property to all reportable jurisdictions.  

Mrs. Beauchamp has been a featured industry speaker at many unclaimed property education seminars, is the immediate Past-President of the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization (UPPO) and has actively served in many volunteer roles with UPPO, and is a member of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) Standardization and Uniformity Committee.
