The world’s largest country (by land size) has matured economically and continues to offer tantalizing opportunities for multinationals, albeit not for the faint of heart. Russia boasts a population of approximately 140 million and a tradition of educational excellence, which has spurred countless innovations and achievements in the sciences, mathematics and arts. This inherent knowledge base, coupled with an enormous wealth of natural resources, has elevated Russia to an extraordinarily powerful economic position. The country is a major exporter of energy to Europe and also has large reserves of gold, platinum and other resources.

Vassiliy Chekulaev, SVP, Global Product Delivery Russia
Vassiliy Chekulaev began his banking career 15 years ago in a leading Russian Bank, where he was responsible for managing relationships with multinational clients and servicing them via a dedicated bank branch. He continued his career as Head of Cash Management at ING Bank Moscow, responsible for building out their Corporate Cash Management business in Russia. He continued his career at ING as Head of Marketing & Sales for ING Private Pension Fund in Russia, where he was responsible for selling corporate pension solutions to Multinationals and Russian Blue Chip names. 

The next big step in Vassiliy’s career development was with AlllianzROSNO Asset Management Company, where Vassiliy was responsible for Corporate Sales. After gaining valuable asset management experience as Deputy General Director, Vassiliy then returned to the banking business as Deputy Country Executive for ABN AMRO Bank Moscow (currently known as RBS Moscow). In this role Vassiliy was responsible for sales of the full spectrum of onshore and offshore GTS products to local and Russia based international clients.

Vassiliy is a well known specialist in the field of Treasury Solutions and he is frequently invited as a key speaker to various conferences organized by Eurofinance (Moscow), KPMG, etc., as well as Russian business TV channel RBC. 

Vassiliy also co-authored the first Russian book on the Treasury Management business entitled “International Cash Management,” which has become a table book for many Treasury managers in Russia. 

Alishba Niazi, VP, International Business Development
Alishba Niazi is the Vice President and International Business Development Officer with direct responsibilities for multinational companies based in the Northeast region. Alishba’s primary responsibilities include assisting US based multinational companies strategize and design global banking and liquidity structures around the world. As part of her role she serves as the Bank’s international cash management capabilities expert for the region, responsible for internal training and communication. Alishba also provides subject matter expertise on international banking topics, trends, and best practices.

She joined BAML four years ago and has spent all of her banking career in the international banking space. She is based in New York City.
