507-The Future of the Dollar as a Reserve Currency
The dollar is an integral part of the global financial architecture and the primary reserve currency for global central banks; however, persistent dollar weakness and rising US indebtedness is challenging this status. What is the outlook for the dollar and who are its main rivals?
Shaun Osborne, TD Securities
Shaun Osborne is the Chief Currency Strategist for TD Securities, based in Toronto. He provides fundamental and technically-driven commentary, views and trading strategies focusing on the G7 currencies for TD Securities and its clients. Thomson/Reuters ranked TD Securities the third most accurate currency forecaster in the world in 2008 and TD Securities improved to first overall in 2009. Shaun has been with TD Securities since 2006. 

Shaun worked as a currency strategist for another Canadian bank in Toronto and London for a number of years and prior to joining that institution, worked for MCM CurrencyWatch in the UK and Thomson Financial Network/Tech Data in London and Paris as a G7 currency analyst and economist. While based in Paris, Shaun wrote regular reports on the foreign exchange market for “La Tribune de l’Expansion”, a major French-language financial daily. He is frequently quoted in the national and international media and makes regular appearances on TV and radio to provide views and insights into market developments. 

He obtained his MBA at the City University Business School in London in 1998.
